A Neocon Take on the Bill of Privileges
The editor in chief of The New Republic has an interesting take on Muslims and what I believe most of us call the Bill of Rights:
I wonder whether I need honor these people and pretend that they are worthy of the privileges of the First Amendment, which I have in my gut the sense that they will abuse.
They are privileges, not rights. Good thing he cleared this up for us. It’s sometimes difficult to understand that archaic 18th century penmanship of the Founding Fathers. Glad we have all these Neocons to tell us what the constitution actually means.
Donald Trump Needs Your Attention Today
Looks like Trump is feeling a little lonely and would like everyone acknowledge his existence today.
So let’s get this straight… He wants to pay cash for the Muslim community center property site under the condition that they move it “at least 5 blocks further” from the WTC site. I guess 5 blocks is more reasonable than 4 blocks but less reasonable than 6 blocks. But has anyone asked Sarah Palin yet if that is enough blocks? What about Glenn Beck? We should at least check with Rush Limbaugh if he is satisfied with the amount of blocks (but we might want to specify they’re city blocks as he’ll probably assume you’re taking away his play things).
What is it with the obsession of the exact number of blocks it takes to display the correct amount of sensitivity? I know… it doesn’t matter. No one will ever be satisfied as long as there’s still an election this November. And by “no one” I mean “selfish people who have something to gain”.
Perhaps the only shocking thing about this is why Donald hasn’t paid cash on a new toupee.
Glenn Beck Adopts African Child
After two days of scouring every video clip and photo of the Beck rally 4 Jesus, the rightwing media has finally found black gold– i.e. the sole black person in attendance:
Never mind the 48-hour Where’s Waldo-like hunt that it took to find her. She’s black and she was there, therefore the rally now qualifies as “racially diverse.”
After this weekend’s shenanigans, I’m beginning to notice a consuming messianic shift infecting Beck’s flop-sweat marinated brain. He’s truly positioning himself as a savoir of souls, as long as you’re American and agree with him politically, and intensifying his efforts to widen and galvanize his audience. It’s kinda spooky.
The aspect of this movement to Christianize America that goes overlooked is the plight this will have on Atheists. Other religions will undoubtedly suffer discrimination from the intense whitewashing of history, as is already happening to Islam, but they are at least capable of joining in the framework of the debate and pushing back under the notion of a shared deity. Atheists however are the queerest of the queers in this new era of fire and brimstone. As an Atheist, I fully respect other people’s beliefs and am frankly highly apathetic. Whatever Beck will say (who ought to know something about the dangers of religious persecution being a Mormon and all), the founders of this country were Deists who held a similar conviction in respecting and ignoring religion in the public debate. Once this whitewash is complete and we become a country “rooted in Judeo-Christian beliefs,” the ultimate persecuted minority in the new social order are the Atheists. Polls already show that we’re more likely to elect a gay president than an atheist. None of that is right to begin with, for gays and atheists, and none of that is actually getting better.
The First CNN Opinion Column That Isn’t Complete Garbage
There must be a calamity at CNN headquarters because they managed to publish someone who’s not a complete loon jackass.
Glenn Beck rewrites civil rights history by Will Bunch
About time someone pointed this out. The whole reclaiming of the civil rights movement as if it was the Republicans who marched for equal rights is just laughable to anyone who isn’t a complete loon jackass, and it needs to stop. That was a different era and the political parties weren’t on the same platforms as they are today. Southern Democrats opposed civil rights, and when the various rights acts passed, the Republican party invited them to their side with the implementation of Nixon’s Southern Strategy. It’s just history and facts, and has nothing to do with today. The people who should get credit for restoring civil rights to black Americans are black Americans themselves. They were the ones who marched and fought dogs and fire hoses.
Glenn’s strategy here is to strip Obama of his special status as the first black president, because once bigoted white Americans feel they were responsible for granting civil rights to blacks, they are no longer perceived as racist for attacking Obama. It’s all a racist attempt to bring down Obama by honing in on his blackness as a political weakness. Obama is a strong politician with few real weaknesses to his credit. Great speaker, interesting personality, visionary initiatives, super-intelligent. Really the only thing he can’t control is the color of his skin. It’s just sick and politics needs to get past this.
Sarah Palin Tweets N-Word
…Or she came pretty damn close.
Dr.Laura:don’t retreat…reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence”isn’t American,not fair”
Why not tweet it 11 times and still have 74 characters to bitch about the First Amendment?
You know, for those of us who wish Sarah Palin a mortifying public death, there is a perverse kind of satisfaction at the thought of her wading cluelessly into another n-word scandal like a pig with lipstick on the conveyor belt to the slaughter house.
As for Dr. Laura, I’ve thought it over, and I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s just no way all these old white millionaires would not understand the consequences of dropping n-bombs on a live broadcast. There’re too many examples in recent memory of people making fools of themselves, many of which come from Laura’s own social circle (old > white > millionaires). With this in mind, I theorized she was secretly sick of her job and made a snap decision to flame out. Then I saw this in the LA Times:
Laura Schlessinger says she was already considering leaving radio
And I felt just a little bit smarter.
Meet Brandon Phillips
Why do people continue to believe that my Facebook page is the last refuge of free speech? Oh well. I will continue to call out stupid when I see it.
Alan Lebetkin The Jerusalem Post has a section of it’s website called “IranianThreat”. Biased news coverage, or biased news coverage? You decide.
Iranian – Iran News | Jerusalem Postwww.jpost.com
Breaking stories, updates, news, editorials, commentary and articles on the subject of Iran and it\’s international relations
- Alan Lebetkin I don’t know you and more to the point I don’t like you. New is unbiased in the year 1995, the last year before Fox News launched it’s campaign of disinformation. Ahmadinejad said Israel would crumble as a failed state similar to the end of the Soviet Union. It’s a passive statement. He didn’t threaten to wipe it off the map. That’s a translation supplied by the Arabic masters at Fox News. Ahmadinejad has no control over the Iranian military. The person in charge of the Iranian military is Supreme Leader Khamenei, who has stated nuclear weapons are unislamic. But none of this matters, because Iran is not a threat to anybody or anything. People need jobs. I invite you to read a book. Free speech is not permitted on my Facebook page. It is mine and I decide if I will delete your comment, or leave it for the purpose of drubbing your stupidity through the mud. Today you get mud.16 minutes ago
Update: Not that it matters…
- Brandon Phillips So why did you ask for comment? Fox is Biased.
- I know people very high up in politics, I’ve read more books on foreign relations, and Domestic policy in my life that you may ever, and I have inside info.
- You’re attacking me for no reason. I won’t write any more, no need to debate. But if you wouldn’t mind, please send me a list of some “Unbiased” news sources (I rarely watch FOX).
- By the way when you insult someone during a debate, it invalidates anything you have to say.
- Later Hater.

- Alan Lebetkin Again, it wasn’t a debate. It was me calling you out for being stupid. I am not going to debate stupid comments. Everything is a debate with you people who dress like Uncle Sam.
- Here is a link about the “Wiping Israel off the face of the map” comment: http://www.juancole.com/2007/06/ahmadinejad-i-am-not-anti-semitic.html
- Takes 2 seconds to google yourself. Although I know it’s easier and quicker to continue believing a lie.
Well This Pisses Me Off
The party of rich white men continues to alienate Muslims, gays, and Hispanics in the name of America all for the greater cause of winning one election.
A “real American” is just anyone with American citizenship. That means pussy liberals too. There will be no revolution, no splitting of the country in two. Just different ways of seeing things. Change your adult diapers, rich white men, and let’s do something about jobs.
